Service Description

Efficient design and application of pre-stressed and post tensioned concrete structures reduces the time of construction and provides quality assured members. It also reduces the building weight, which reduces the lateral loads caused by vibrations, seismic activities and wind. The efficiency of the design depends on the understanding by engineers of the prestressing concept as applied to the common concrete elements. Producing design drawings and construction inspections requires additional skills which are also discussed in this workshop. The workshop aims at discussing different techniques used in the pre-stressing and post tensioning process and demonstrates the effect of their force on members. The design procedures of different members such as beams and slabs will also be explored in detail. Focus will also be on practical examples relating to the use of post-tensioning members. It is also the aim of the workshop to examine theoretical concepts and practical design methods as well as the mechanisms applied in creating structural drawings and inspecting the structural members.
